Once, out drinking with a big group, we discovered that I, a cis woman, had bigger hands than almost all the guys (I have very long fingers). So that's a stupid way to assign gender.

As a young adult with ADHD, I would regularly forget to eat all day, have an emotional spiral, realise I forgot to eat, and refuse to eat because I was now too upset. It was a problem.

I worked out how to make egg fried rice with vegetables in mine. I'm not even that sure it saves time or work.

Yeah, If you do it right, dogs love crates. Ours got her crate so she would stop guarding the couch. It's where she takes most of her naps now.

This is just eugenics. Modern medicine makes each generation weaker by keeping the weak alive is both a terrible and a wrong opinion.

It's the middle of the series, but maybe Komarr in the Vokosigan books? The colonizers believe they are justified by self defense, the colonised are fighting back. This plays out over several books, but this might be the best if you only want one book.

When we bought our (non McMansion) house, it was over 25 years old, it's not at all clear when it was last painted, and we kept finding painters tape, mostly around the window treatments.
