Yeah, If you do it right, dogs love crates. Ours got her crate so she would stop guarding the couch. It's where she takes most of her naps now.

"okay, human. I have not yet received my dinner. Also, I have claimed this shoe. The next move is yours."

Our lurcher is part Whippet, and definitely has some cat thoughts.

It could always be worse. Someone could be speculating about whether the AI actor thing is a virgin.

I'll be honest, Hedy's time as Head of Security has been mixed. Sure, zero burglaries. However, there's been a 300% increase in false alarms at 3 am, a 250% increase in shoe theft, and a full 800% increase in toast you turned your back on for a second being stolen. #dogs

Summer is ending. The signs are all here. The nights are getting longer, the air is cooler, the dog has claimed the window seat in front of the radiator as her own.

Quicksand exists! I was as surprised to learn this as anyone else, but this park has multiple quicksand warnings. Turns out you just need to learn where to look.

Our lurcher will fight tooth and bail to avoid going into the bathtub at home, but loves a trip to the groomer.

I haven't tried today. Here's a test

Dies anyone else have a dog who has memorised the location of every dog friendly cafe within walking distance, and will occasionally refuse to walk anywhere but towards them, resulting in lots of undignified pulling and dragging, or is our dog special?

I remember when my greyhound mix Hedy (pictured) was younger, she tried to get a basset to play with her. (Should note that while she's taller, she only weighs about 45 lbs). She jumped up, tried to tackle the dog, and jumped back. He gave her a disgusted look and moved slowly out of play range.

When we first got Hedy, there was some debate about her age. Various people put it at 1 year, 18 months and 2 years. (We eventually went with 1 year). One sign she was still young was that her paws were still mostly pink. Now, at (probably) 4, she only has a few pink spots left.

For a second I thought that was a, picture of my dog, which was very confusing.

These new warning signs in the park, now that they have finally finished cutting up all the downed trees. I love that the person illegally climbing the timber still attached a safety line.

Our lurcher has basically refused to move since the rain started. She is very anti-rain in general. She might make an excellent spokes dog for bed rotting, which I'm told is a trend among young people.

According to breed descriptions, sighthounds are non territorial dogs that rarely bark. Hedy refuses to read breed descriptions, and is a fantastically territorial dog who barks at everything, especially at 2 am.

I don't know what Hedy does all night, but she seems to require at least a 4 hour nap in the morning before she's ready for anything.
May 2, 2025 at 10:38 AM
Mine will happily sleep through the morning, but that's because she was up at 2 am barking at the neighbours for coming home too loudly.

For the record, you can get 20 eggs for about that price in Europe (Ireland). Granted, these are t fanciest eggs, but still.

In this house, if you want a weighted, heated, blanket, you just have to be still somewhere for a few minutes.
April 4, 2025 at 3:32 PM
I put this blanket on the bed because Hedy would not stop sleeping against my pillows. Hedy in convinced I put it down so she could be more comfortable.

This is Hedy's favourite time of day, when she can lie in the sun on the window seat. (looking at the picture, I feel I should mention she is neither old (only 4, we think), nor underweight (just a sighthound)) #DogsOfBluesky
