I would hope that it is standard practice for the city to consider what road users will do when they encounter a sudden obstruction but the current behavior doesn’t reflect that.

Some of the most dangerous issues I’ve run into this summer have been public works vehicles in the 1) contraflow bike lane on 5th St SE and 2) in the bike lane right in front of the newly placed stop sign on 15th Ave SE (8th St SE intersection). Same deal with the 311 tickets.

I haven’t pushed him on it (and I’m not sure if he has a chance at winning?) but yeah I think he’s ultimately just a guy who’s really into biking and is naive on labor issues. maybe education would help but I think he should just stay in his lane (volunteer infrastructure advocacy)

well maybe I misspoke— I think he cares about staffing and programming but doesn’t understand why he has to play politics for that to happen

oh yeah I mean miller seems nice enough as a person but his campaign was kinda just slapped together last minute. and I’m not sure he quite understands why issues beyond the management of the physical parks matter

I’ve talked to him a few times; his whole thing seems to be that he thinks the pro-labor candidates are too focused on labor and not enough on the parks.

when i got a call/email from this article’s journalist I didn’t respond because I questioned whether I had been too dramatic. Wouldn’t say I’m glad to see others have had similar experiences this summer but it is reassuring that I’m not just a bad bike commuter
