Remembering MN house speaker Melissa Hortman, her husband Mark and their beloved dog Gilbert. Murdered in June at their home by a rightwing Trump-voting evangelist, who also shot another MN lawmaker and his wife at THEIR home, 9 and 8 times, respectively (miraculously, they survived).

Waste, fraud, and abuse is the U refusing to bargain in good faith with the Teamsters who take care of our research animals! Animal ordering has been paused for nearly a month. Experiments (on grants that are time-limited) have been delayed. The value of animal care workers is beyond obvious.

using the concept of intelligence to distance oneself from others is a eugenics framework. it also just makes more sense to be specific in stating the root of someone’s actions (i.e racism, homophobia, selfishness, under-education, etc.).
As you’re insulting the short sighted, poorly conceived, and malicious actions of politicians and tech bros:

Keep in mind that “moron” and “idiot” are ableist slurs. If you can’t say something mean without equating bad actors to the people they’re harming, shut the fuck up and buy a thesaurus.

“I have not had a single day without an incident that has left me shaken up. It can be grating to hear the people around me discussing standstill traffic on their commute when I fear for my safety and life every day on mine.”
Detours to nowhere, bicyclist close calls: reports from a tough summer for commuters
The Minnesota Star Tribune asked readers to talk about their worst commutes amid all the road construction. Here is a sampling of what they said.

Also, if you're able to handle potential medical expenses sooner (because you do have to take care of your cat), senior cats can be very good, calm companions and you can give them a loving, happy home for their final years. Seniors are frequently much calmer and tend to just chill out, too.
Nothing wrong with adopting a kitten, but adult cats are great and usually less of a handful! And if you can only take on one cat (for enrichment/social reasons you should have two), you can often find an adult that doesn’t get along with other cats.
One of the reasons almost all of the adoptable cats I’ve shared here have been adults is because adult cats are great. They already have their personalities! Cheddar Bob has a great profile. You can’t write a profile like that about a kitten. Don’t get me wrong, I love kittens,

re: becka thompson || it is so hard to see everyone making armchair diagnoses to explain her behavior. Idiosyncratic belief systems do not a psychiatric condition make, and using this language further stigmatizes already highly stigmatized disorders.
