Someone was asking about the five-star reads of the year so far and I'm about to hit 100 books this year so here my top rated so far. It's been a good year, each of these was excellent and a good variety too.

Now we know what the orcas have been training for
I interviewed Australian mining billionaire Clive Palmer on his once-more-revived plan to build Titanic II, a functional and historically accurate replica of the original ship. He now says it will be a “vaccine-free environment.”

So I've got nothing much to do and the easter holidays coming up so I'm going to try and read all the books released this week that are on my TBR and see how I go. A fun experiment to see the average rating.

This was SO good, y'all. Highly recommend it. Queer, intersectional identities and fighting the good fight in alt-history US. More of my thoughts here: www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

I made this sketch for an idea I had a long time ago exploring the idea of the famous myth that sharks "smell a drop of blood in 2 million liters of water" and become uncontrollably frenzy.

This scene depicts a distant event in the past history of my shark civilization.🦈✨

Getting up in the morning and opening up socials to indulge in my new favorite conspiracy. Why, yes, graphic design is my passion, why do you ask?

Anyway, I like reading and this year I'm deliberately focusing on longer books over quantity per year. Things like StoryGraph's built-in number of books vs number of pages read is really enabling me to consider this kind of data this year

I'm also really looking forward to getting into these more popular fantasy books this year.

I'm nearly halfway through my reading goals for the year but not bumping it up this year because I have some chonkers coming up to read later this year and I'm probably going to need the time. Exciting, though!

I'm reading a YA book about a girl with anxiety getting into TTRPGs and the discord server with strangers chat with (edited) after every one of her lines is such an excellent, subtle touch
