What I never get is the fascination with Hungary ostensibly being some Christian-conservative success story, hard on immigration, with improving fertility. This is so far from the actual truth, only really gullible/uninformed people and grifters would believe it. Oh wait.

Turns out, Orban wasn't telling the truth: the exemption he got is for a year. But this is all he needs - elections take place in April. It's still a win for him.

But much will depend on how else Trump plans to support him and if this is enough to kickstart the economy

Orban's press conference is a sight to behold, by the way: an assortment of media workers and straight-up propagandists, all from a media network maintained and coordinated by his party and government, no independent media in the room, and they cosplay a WH-style press briefing with a straight face.

They also had the obligatory laugh at Ukraine's expense, and we're barely 10 minutes in. I only need two more wildly false claims for my bingo card.

On a side note: Orban's face when Trump gushed about his great relationship with Romania was a sight you only appreciate fully if you know the region
