I think I’m going to be exploring some major changes in my life. At the top of my list is.. I think I’m just kind of done with video games for a while? Apart from my Final Fantasy raid group (which is on hiatus), I haven’t really had fun playing anything consistently.

Unfortunately I suspect as union activity gains momentum and popular support in this broken industry we will continue to see studios ramp up their union busting efforts.

My recommendation for VtM: Bloodlines 2 is to just wait. Eventually if it’s on sale for $10-15, then maybe consider it. Where it is right now is just not worth it.

I really, really missed painting. I'm a bit over eight years out of practice at this point (stopped not long before my move to Washington, and didn't keep up the hobby after moving), and I had forgotten how much I can relax when I just put on a podcast and paint for a few hours.

#BloodOnTheClocktower games on YouTube are such a fascinating thing, because I can tell ahead of time how likely I am to enjoy watching a game of it by peeking ahead at the ending and knowing if Evil wins.
Evil wins in the game are, in my experience, much more likely to be interesting to the end.

I’m convinced the main reason Miyazaki films have a reputation for being “cozy” in the West is because he actually writes and animates long moments of quiet into his stories, whereas Western animated films are usually a nonstop parade of loud music, sounds, noises and neon colors.
Miyazaki: in this movie two young girls (one is a toddler) are uprooted from everything they know to start new lives near the rural hospital their mother is in; she is possibly dying of TB. Their dad works several hours away and they are largely unsupervised.

My annual performance reviews consistently praise my communication skill but it’s hard to be happy about that when the reality is I just over-explain as an anxiety defense mechanism

Yes, em dashes do appear to frequently be used in AI-plagiarized content. But that does NOT mean that their presence is a definitive sign that a work is AI-plagiarized.
Believe it or not it's actually super easy to enter em dashes, and lots of us do it. I use them in CASUAL discussions all the time

That's both Well of Ascension and Hero of Ages done, I've finally got around to finishing the original Mistborn trilogy.
...And I kind of wish I'd just kept it at having read the first book. I was not a fan. (Although I enjoyed Vin's parts throughout, mostly).

Finally, slowly managing to convince myself that it's acceptable for me to use my time off for... just relaxing, enjoying myself, and reading. I don't have to be pursuing some sort of project. I'm allowed to just be in the moment, without feeling like I have to be working on something.

I’ve used it for years (it’s trivially easy to do on a Mac), and someone assuming something I said was AI slop because of it is extremely frustrating & disheartening 😭
