Guess who's going to be paying the price for all the newly uninsured who go to the ER for care?
This is due to a law signed by Ronald Reagan and has nothing to do with this shutdown fight.

But consider this...

Emergency Medicaid spending in 2023 cost $3.8 billion — just 0.4% of total Medicaid spending.

Now what about the $20 billion taxpayers are giving to Argentina?

I was born an underdog. 21 surgeries by the age of 12 for spina bifida. A kid wearing goodwill hand-me-downs. I knew nothing would come easy, but I never doubted my right to the American dream.

Now, I'm running for the U.S. Senate to make sure all Iowans have a shot at theirs.

"SedAtious"!
Trump: "This is like, proof. Irrefutable proof that Obama was seditious. That Obama was trying to lead a coup. And it was with Hillary Clinton, with all these other people. But Obama headed it up ... this is the biggest scandal in the history of our country."

Stephen Miller has spent his career pushing policies that treat people as threats instead of humans. His ideas don’t come from strength or compassion but from a deep belief in exclusion. We need leaders who solve problems, not ones who divide to score points. www.nytimes.com/2025/07/07/o...

I am gutted. With 2 on Medicare under my roof, I fear the worst for their health and wellbeing. And we have means. What this does to other Americans hurts my heart.

I predict a sharp rise in suicides and assisted deaths for those left with no other choice. A dark, dark day in America.
Damn this hits hard

Feeling so much safer now that dear leader is rounding up...18 year old honors students, and...pancake house waitresses, and...documented roofing workers. More jobs, too!
What happened here is an example of the Trump administration “de-documenting” people. His workers all had work permits; it seems they were Nicaraguans who entered through CHNV parole. But the Trump admin stripped them of their status then rounded them up, making even his supporter mad.
cause and effect is one of the first things we teach kids, eg “the stove is hot, touching it will burn you.” and yet.

Reposting this rumination, just because.
What if, and this is coming from my pea brain, dem governors slow roll or even pause the remittance of collected federal payroll taxes. How quickly will the government feel that shortfall? How quickly will rep governors bang on the door, crying "Please, sir.".
I’m not a mathematician or anything, but it seems like this adds up to Republicans dramatically increasing the deficit while the wealthy pay a lot less in taxes. No wonder Trump wanted to eliminate the debt ceiling during his presidency.

Wow! I had just said that an American would NEVER be elected pope.

In the inimitable words of dear leader - Never say Never.
We have another progressive Pope. Cardinal Robert Prevost, the first American, is now Pope Leo the XIV. We can all breathe now. The Church will continue its path to inclusion.
