A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.

Never forget that Norman Rockwell, debatably the most famous American artist to ever put brush to canvas, was not afraid to show the ugliness along with the good. Having his work/reputation sanitized and trimmed into marketable nostalgia is about American as it gets.

Among my favourite Hookland dialect words is widkerwep - the sadness one feels at coming to the end of wood and seeing the last section of a path leading out of it. Hooklanders also use widkerwep to mean the taking of a needed action that brings a sense of loss. - #EmilyCBanting, 1982 #WOTD

My back hurts especially badle today...I still can't get my head to understand we are disabled.
We can't do "normal". Yes, going to doctor+ supermarket run+teaching 3 sessions IS too much.
In my head, I'm still perfectly capable to hike 12 km a day like I used too, with heavy 90l backpack...
