Meanwhile, cases of measles, salmonella, listeria and hepatitis A and C have spread throughout the country. via NPR

it is pretty interesting to see the contrast with the “Inflation Reduction Act” which the NYT did not refer to by name in the headlines as it was going through Congress

After months of baseless claims about “extreme levels of fraud” within Social Security, Musk's DOGE has found only 2 likely fraudulent claims out of over 110,000—that makes it a rate of .0018%.

So DOGE found virtually no fraud and made an integral American system less efficient.
Surprise! DOGE’s Hunt for Social Security Fraud Ends in Total Bust
Elon Musk and his DOGE minions wrecked the Social Security Administration for no reason at all.

@benrothenberg.bsky.social Listening to NCR and enjoying it!

Will say on Mensik/Fonseca yall are forgetting or ignoring the eye test.

Fonseca IMMEDIATELY impresses with HUGE strokes and Mensik has a good serve and fine backhand.

Not just market, but game is the difference here.

10,000 Health and Human Services employees are being laid off.

These are the people who track diseases, conduct research, make sure our food and medicine is safe, and administer health insurance for nearly half the country.

Tell me how this will "make America healthy again."

All I keep thinking about is how Pete Hegseth raised questions of the competency of a Black four-star general and Air Force fighter pilot who was the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Hegseth asked did he get the job “because of his skin color? Or his skill? We’ll never know, but always doubt.”

At a macro level, so far, DOGE doesn’t seem to be doing much cutting. Spending this February was 7% higher than last year.

Instead, DOGE is obliterating small areas of spending, ending some govt functions.

This has never been about efficiency & is instead about illegally stopping things they hate.

Considering how often Trump and Republicans lambast and yell at @nytimes.com , it’s remarkable just how quickly and easily Barbarro/Haberman et al. sanewash and paint clear diplomatic manipulation as wins for Trump.

If WAPO hadn’t died in darkness I would have cancelled NYT sub long ago.
