I cannot support a government who doesn’t care about the voices of Ontarians, especially on issues as important as our kids’ education (Bill 33), protecting renters (Bill 60), and keeping energy costs down (Bill 40).

I’m catching up with votes from last week. On Thursday I voted against the government’s omnibus red tape Bill 56 because it weakens protections for clean drinking water, further weakens protections for endangered species, and removes speed cameras, which evidence shows save people’s lives.

I also voted in favour of Bill 49 to improve safety on Northern highways. People in Northern Ontario have spent years pushing successive governments to address real safety concerns on their highways. Now is the time to deliver.

That’s why I voted NO on their motion to fast track three government bills.

Debate and public consultation are critical to democracy. I can’t support a motion that shuts out the people of Ontario from having their say on the issues that matter to them.
