Was a teacher, still a cynic.
The BBC is probably the most trusted news service in the world. It’s one of the largest and most trusted in the US. So anyone wondering why Trump and his fascist outriders are doing what they’re doing need look no further than that for reasons.

I think this is right.
What you’re witnessing is a populist assault on the BBC.

This is not an institutional scandal in any meaningful sense of the word. It is an attack on public service broadcasting.

A right wing government would see this as an opportunity to appoint the most right wing DG they could find.

The government must take the opportunity to appoint the most left of centre person they can find.

Be like them. Take your chances as and when they present themselves.

Distinct lack of consistency of thought.

Or perhaps the words of a sociopath?

Maybe he could make Putin believe his nuclear arsenal was bigger than it actually is so he’d be happy to cut it.

Halfway through this Musk realises that everything he’s saying is true of himself.

Tesla should be careful because this gives the impression that their business is all about the vibe rather than being a technological leader.

Tesla plans to pay Musk $1tn - do they really need him that much?
Shareholders have approved a pay package that puts an astronomical value on Elon Musk's value as a leader.

Hill I I’m currently dying on:

In ten years time the curriculum review will be having less impact on children’s schooling than the pandemic.

I wouldn’t trust politicians who are
A) this bad at maths, and
B) clearly incapable of checking what they say against reality.
Tesla have approved a $1 trillion pay package for Elon Musk. That's 20 billion times more than a nurse in the UK earns.

Don't let anyone tell you immigrants or disabled people are the problem. It's the richest 1% hoarding all the wealth.

Time to tax the super-rich properly.

Every picture tells a story.

Sadly no one is listening to the tale these two tell.

It’s been put in the box “too difficult”.

Appears I’ve been vibe coding. Who knew I could do such a thing.
Today I have mainly been using ChatGPT to help me build a Christmas card database in Google Sheets. Finally able to ditch MS Access.

It’s like working with a junior programmer. Incredibly efficient and effective.

The excuse for prison incompetence appears to be “there’s no wi-fi”.

Use a wire then. I have a whole boxful they can come and choose from.

Next excuse will be “they’re old buildings, hard to wire”.

We have drills now.

Just stop making dumb excuses.

Both these things can be true as drivers represent a minority of road deaths.

A “pay-per-mile” tax for EVs was always coming, because the tax loss from fuel duty will be so great, but this seems like a particularly regressive way of going about it.

A better way would be use MOT data which all appears to be online now anyway to get a better mileage figure.

Some minor, mostly sensible, tinkering around the edges which is bound to cause some to react with apoplectic fury.

Because it’s far enough away that most US citizens won’t care.

See, I would have hoped that by now police would have systems that highlighted in real time the links between such offences and flagged them for some kind of concerted action.

It only really becomes a problem if and when they allow free and fair elections to take place and then seat the winning candidates in a sitting legislature.
🚨A new Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos poll shows that on the economy — the issue that carried Trump back to the White House — only 37% of Americans approve of his performance, compared to 62% who disapprove. This is in line with other recent polls.

This is a very serious problem for Republicans.

The Potts tackle, which was penalised, was no different to the penalty which was disallowed. Ball first, then man.

It’s the news broadcasters I feel sorry for, having to turn a 3 minute press conference and a couple of early morning interviews into a 24hour news cast.

I’m betting they’ll be representatives from Hornby being interviewed by 2:30 at the latest.
