Grandad, grandad. Why didn't you do anything to stop it all? Yeah in hindsight we should have done more. Also in foresight. But I think we just hoped someone else would sort it out for us. Felt like they should. But they must have been waiting for us to do it. Sorry.

The business secretary Jonathan Reynolds says the racist protesters intimidating asylum seekers in Epping are "upset for legitimate reasons.”
I don't remember any Labour frontbencher saying the same about people protesting the genocide in Gaza. On the contrary, they've criminalised peaceful dissent.

That is what our government is enabling — and it should be eternally ashamed.

Netanyahu is openly gearing up to commit a crime of unthinkable proportions - the forced ethnic cleansing of Palestinians, with the continued backing of the US. Every sane and civilized country must oppose this.

The government was right to welcome Ukrainian refugees fleeing war.
There is only one reason that people in Gaza, displaced by a genocide that our government abetted, are treated differently.
That reason is anti-Palestinian racism.

Even with a virtual monopoly on degree-awarding powers, they refused to use that power to force the Government to maintain real-terms payments, preferring to slash staff pay while hoarding their huge salaries.

Why are politicians talking about the destruction of Gaza as if it’s some random disaster?
They know the truth: they spent 15 months rejecting our calls to stop arming Israel.
Gaza must be rebuilt for Palestinians — and those responsible for its demolition must face justice.

@owenjones.bsky.social Something odd here…
It appears (from other reports) that Andrew Gwynne made some antisemitic remarks, among others in his WhatsApp messages. But that allegation has been dropped from the BBC report https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c5y7zperkelo though. Why, I wonder?

How about if everyone bigging up “sustainable aviation fuel” pledged only to fly on planes using such fuel, where the airline has purchased it at an unsubsidised market price? Then we wouldn’t need a third runway.

It’s hard enough to listen to accounts of the terrible events in Southport, without BBC Radio 4 Today presenters opining that the perpetrator is “obviously an unconscionably vile individual”. This is not helpful. Maybe they should listen to their own Reith Lectures.
