Was thinking yesterday about how even the celebrities famous *right now* (who I often barely recognize) will be, at best, old stars when my toddler is old enough to be into celebrities.

Yeah the primary ads write themselves. Hard to imagine anyone surviving short of a full on party switch, and even then it'd be risky.

The books are even better at both the geo (galactic?) politics and the science part of science fiction. As in there's key plot points on the problems of bleeding zero g, the impossibly hard task of finding a ship in the vastness of space, and when to start decelerating to not crash.

On the contrary, dividing militaries is a very common coup-proofing tactic, precisely because it prevents one general from amassing the power to succeed while also ensuring competing factions will exist to defend the regime (even if only because they want to be the one winning a coup).
