The best order of operations for any mid-scope indie game that requires funding is:

- Build it quickly & quietly assuming you'll self-publish
- Pitch to everyone
- If unsuccessful, put out a store page & start marketing
- If successful, publishers will come back to you
- If not, continue as-is

Empreender é uma parada puxada. A insegurança bate sempre, “será que esse é o melhor caminho mesmo?”. Nesses ~10 anos empreendendo, sempre tive que lidar com essa insegurança, acho que faz parte.

If you didn't plan to leave Unity yet, now is a good time to consider it.
If you did plan to leave Unity only in the future, maybe try checking if you can do it faster.
So Unity recently decided that the tiny startup I dayjob for needed to upgrade to Industry at 5k/year/seat. We had no chance to contest it because they would have killed our only product. They even threatened people we worked with in the past with the same.

It's not just us.

Finally got to play Pokémon arceus (was playing Veilguard, but now my BF likes it too so we are sharing ❤️🥹🫠), and gods I’m pissed at Nintendo/Gamfreak.
They create an awesome “open world like” system on top of Pokémon - which fans had been craving since forever! +

I honestly think people should use more assets from the store.
As much as have a unique art style/assets is great, cost efficiency is super important.

Learning to balance between store assets and creating your own is definitely a skill by itself
I rather play/see this than a single piece of GenAI slop.

- Learn to properly say yes/no to opportunities
- Hire good art and audio
- Networking matters (self critic included for me)
