This Spoon single from 2020 that never made an album is truly great. For some reason the chorus rattles around in my head all the time these days.

Cory Wong of Vulfpeck has a long form interview with Trey that seems like it could be pretty good. (I’ve only listened to a clip from Instagram so far)

I feel bad that my wife barely knows how to use our Sonos system, but the good news is that the only thing she knows how to do is put on Neil Young Radio from Apple Music. It’s a good mix!

Indivisible, 50501, and everyone involved in these big protests are doing phenomenal work. There is literally nothing to lose by continuing to push high turnout, nonviolent, orderly, protests with the simple message that dictatorships are bad and unAmerican, and Trump is trying to be a dictator.

Today I learned that there only 17 Olmec heads have ever been unearthed, which makes Bart getting one from Mr. Burns that much more impressive. #thesimpsons

It’s not a perfect movie by any means but the subplot in V for Vendetta with the late night host getting black bagged and executed for criticizing the regime is starting to feel too close to home.

I know we have a first amendment, but if we didn't I would forbid local tv news from reporting on crimes from outside of their broadcast region. Nobody in New Hampshire needs to be making Facebook comments on a NH tv station's post about a murder in North Carolina. It's toxic.

The central problem with education polarization of the political parties in the US is that smart people love to feel smart and dumb people hate to feel dumb. So when people in the smart party talk in ways that make smart people feel smart (like using academic language), it just makes dumb people […]

If anyone is looking for a fantastic contemporary yet traditional jazz album, RoundAgain with Joshua Redman, Brad Mehldau, Christian McBride, and Brian Blade has to be about as good as it gets. Incredible playing by all four.

Oh god, one of the victims of the Minneapolis shooting was the daughter of Phish fans. The picture on this Reddit post with the dad holding Junta vinyl and the daughters with Taylor Swift and Frozen just wrecked me; I’ve literally taken my girls to RSD multiple times. There’s a Go Fund Me in the […]

I know the conventional wisdom about Apple is that they are "behind" in AI (even at the company) but going slow and using GenAI judiciously now seems prescient to me. As limited as Siri currently is, no one wants a sycophantic AI-powered Siri that hallucinates answers. #apple #ai

If you are looking for something outside of the box to listen to, John Adams' "Road Movies" is a truly fantastic contemporary classical album. The two-piano "Hallelujah Junction" is incredible.

Kind of amazing that Trey got to play Scarlet>Fire with Dead & Co for the 60th anniversary of the Dead about 42 years after the first Phish show where he played Scarlet>Fire and then got drowned out by someone putting on "Thriller." Whatever you think of musical merit of Dead & Co, that is an […]

mRNA COVID vaccines have saved millions of lives. No other technology is as flexible at dealing with an emergent pathogen with pandemic potential. We will likely be seeing many more of these pathogens as a result of climate change. Ending research is going to lead to untold numbers of future deaths.
