1/ The US Government has quietly removed a memorial to Black soldiers who died in World War II from the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten, South Limburg. The move follows a complaint from the right-wing Heritage Foundation to the American Battle Monuments Commission. ⬇️

This Spoon single from 2020 that never made an album is truly great. For some reason the chorus rattles around in my head all the time these days.

One analytical model shows that, as of November 5th, the dismantling of U.S.A.I.D. has already caused the deaths of 600,000 people, two-thirds of them children. https://newyorkermag.visitlink.me/jUzNSc

Please, please learn from this, New Hampshire Democratic Party.
Democrats contested all 100 Virginia House of Delegates races. Part of the party’s statewide success is due to the synergies between the legislative and statewide campaigns—even the losing ones. This is a big reason why Jay Jones won comfortably. This is a model the Dems should emulate everywhere

This is quite long but very good.
In America and Europe, the rising bourgeoisie was a class of ink and newsprint. They wanted their subordinates to be literate too. What, then, to make of America’s move to abandon mass literacy and public education?

I have been informed by @chopaganda.bsky.social on Mastodon that saying Cory Wong is in Vulfpeck might be stolen valor and that it would be more accurate to say he is in the Vulfpeck Cinematic Universe.
Cory Wong of Vulfpeck has a long form interview with Trey that seems like it could be pretty good. (I’ve only listened to a clip from Instagram so far)

As a dad with two kids who got mailers from this place it always seemed a bit off: super long and flashy but emphasizing "life skills" instead of academics. I kind of assumed it was a Liberty University knockoff for dumber born-again Christians but apparently it is mainline protestant (Methodist).
I'm quoted in this Wall Street Journal piece on High Point University, which has gone all-in on amenities (a $40,000-per year housing and dining plan!) to attract modest-achieving, high-income students.
How a Small North Carolina College Became a Magnet for Wealthy Students
As Trump slashes funding, schools are trying to attract the limited pool of higher-end families. High Point University is a blueprint.

Keeping this vague to avoid outright spoilers: I regret to inform you all that the DNA test in One Battle After Another is kinda bullshit, and what is described in that scene as evidence for something is not evidence of anything.

Or was that maybe the point?
