A jerk from the Ozarks with resting Christian face
For the Lord’s Prayer? That’s fine, I suppose. It’s not my favorite, but I get why some people like it. It would make way less sense in the Agnus, though

No doubt!

God gave human beings the agency to forgive one another’s sins. But to eliminate Sin itself? That’s something that calls for a messianic redeemer.

There’s a difference between “sins” as a series of human transgressions (minor or otherwise) needing forgiveness, and “Sin” as a curse that afflicts the world in a general sense.

Yep.

I’m sure this is just my own ignorance of how the liturgy works, but to me it seems like “sins” (plural) portrays Jesus as a cosmic bean-counter, while “sin” (singular) more properly IDs Christ as the one capable of transforming our fundamental condition.

A good application of this theory to the New Testament is Dale Martin’s The Corinthian Body.

Weirdly, in ancient Greece, “corporeal spiritual” would not have been a contradiction, because pneuma was understood to be a type of material substance — a fine, airy substance that floated upward, while the heavy flesh was stuck here on earth.

Just a potpourri of corruption

a mirepoix of malfeasance, if you will

Sorry, should’ve said “data ARE pretty clear”. But whatever

It’s okay to be objectively wrong about some things

Ahhhhh that sounds like SO much fun

Yes! My wife and I packed sandwiches and would eat them while sitting in the back of the car with the hatch open, chatting with whoever pulled up. We’ve also stopped at some really awesome local restaurants that happen to have small charging stations, too.

It’s also a completely different sort of travel experience. Since you’re parked at a charger for 30 mins to an hour, you end up getting the chance to meet and chat with other people who happen to be sharing a charging station with you, which can be kind of cool

I’ve taken the Bolt on 2 or 3 bigger road trips (10+ hours one-way). It’s slower than just filling up on gas and driving straight from Point A to Point B, but not as much as you might expect. There’s pretty decent infrastructure in a good chunk of the U.S. right now.

We just used our old clunker Subaru for a short road trip for the first time in years. It smells awful, it’s expensive, and just an altogether uncomfortable ride. Our Chevy Bolt is my favorite car I’ve ever driven or ridden in.

Yeah, I’m definitely not saying I have any better ideas
