If anyone is hiring a technician, I’ve got a great candidate. I wish I could hire her myself! She’s got the grit, she knows how to hustle, and she does publication quality work. Lots of molecular biology, protein, and cell culture experience. Please DM me if you are interested.

This is an amazing tool. It not only shows improvement is possible 💪 when there is a will 👨🏽‍🤝‍👨🏻 👑 but also how desperately some parts of the world need their leaders to focus on reducing pollution (eg look at Qatar’s level 🤯 )
🚨Our new paper introduces the #AirQualityStripes – a visual tool to show how outdoor air pollution (PM2.5) has changed in 🌍 cities since 1850. Inspired by the iconic #WarmingStripes. Led by @kirstypringle.bsky.social & @jimmcquaid.bsky.social

Yes, just let me read it!
I do not want the video. I will never watch the video. I usually won’t even give the video the effort of complaint.

I just want to read the news story. Give me the text. This would be my Ted Talk but that would be text too.

The literal highs and lows of this striking topo map are a welcome reprieve from the highs and lows of our political map
Topographical 3D map of North and Central America: the Alaska Range, with Denali (6,190 m) is the highestpoint, the lowest point is Death Valley (-86 m).

People aren’t vaccinating their pets either?!
I’m very relieved to be vaccinated against rabies
(following a bat 🦇 exposure) but now need to figure out how to get my kids vaxxed, too….
The absolute worst is vets who deny rabies shots to pets because they say "it's too hard for a little pet to handle"
A painful death is too hard to handle, a poke with a needle is not.

Will's detailed thread about using Claude Code as a coding assistant parallels my experience using ChatGPT o.3 and o.4 as a proof assistant.
Not sure how many scientists here have tried Claude Code or similar command line coding assistants. I had a complicated family property tax problem that was best solved by a brute force Monte Carlo simulation approach, so I spent a few days coding up and analyzing a model with Claude Code.

Listening to Pete B in this interview makes me simultaneously happy (he’s obviously a rationale, capable, articulate person…more of these, plz! 🙏🏼) and sad (because he is not involved in the decision making ⚖️)

NASA is more than rockets and moonwalks. NASA is behind much of our everyday technology. From space discovery, to Air Jordans, to CAT scans, NASA has played a role. We get it all on less than a penny of every federal dollar. Now their science may be gutted by 50%.
