I am briefly one of the (many!) talking heads in the doc but it was put together by a great team at TPT and the historians behind this project: www.overpolicedmsp.org/about-us

2024 was not as bad as 2020 in the end for newly-minted sociologists, tho we'll see what 2025 has in store

Ooh, I was looking for that graph a couple months ago and 2024 wasn't included yet. Interesting -- I actually expected more of a dip 2023-2024. This year there are more job ads than I expected given everything, but I'm sure it's down from last year overall.

But you in essence give up on being a place with active research training, most grant-funded research, etc. And there's just no script for it, everyone remembers the era of higher ed expansion instead.

Yes, this is exactly the set of complicated tensions. And add to it that every U is basically winging it on their own so very little market coordination. I do think there is quickly a point where programs (and jobs) are small enough in numbers that it makes sense to close them.

I’m told ICE attacked us—despite us being off the street, courtesy of the state police—to create a spectacle because Kristi Noem was present today. Here’s some footage of her and her team on the roof of Broadview. Everything is content creation to these fascists.
