This is the last day of SNAP benefits for 10,000 Washington county residents. Our wonderful food shelf partners came to board members to ask for support we listened and we answered. $250,000 of reserve funds were approved at our special board meeting on Thursday to distribute locally. #donate

Belmont Cragin Business Owners Beg For Support As ICE Fears Devastate Sales And Closures Loom
Despite fear and uncertainty in the area, business owners are trying to stay positive: "One less dinner in Roscoe Village and Wrigley and out in this neighborhood that needs help will make a huge difference."

We have people in our state of MN that can stay nonpartisan while still moving boulders forward in thought and compassion. NAMI is an organization known for working hard advocating for mental health services and suicide prevention. Sue Abderholden has been a tremendous leader.

Rotary gave $20,000 to South Washington social workers in Minnesota. Those funds helped with training and student co-pays for mental health services or payment for services. Non-profits will be essential during the Trump trifecta attack of our public schools. I am so glad I’m a Rotary member!

I don’t have time to cook.L so I decided to try Cook Unity. A meal already cooked by chefs at my door. Yes please. So far on my 2nd week. And I think I even lost a few lbs.

This one is my favorite so far.

This is a good read—and a reminder from ACLU’s Sandy Chung that we should be preparing for authoritarianism, not just reacting to it. Portland is a test case. ICE raids, protest arrests, federal threats. It’s all here. Get organized, stay ready.
Trump is back in the White House, but Portland isn’t sure how to respond
Portland’s leaders are still weighing how best to respond to a second Trump term: vocally fight back with lawsuits and protests, or try to stay off of Trump’s radar with a more quiet resistance.

States can’t afford this. Local governments can’t afford this. Donald Trump betrayed us in the big beautiful bill to fill his pockets. #trumpdump #trumpsteals
News: Today on the Senate floor I challenged the huge snap cost shifts in the big beautiful betrayal that will put a huge strain on states and cause millions of people to go hungry.

Planned Parenthood was my doctor in my twenties when my employer wouldn’t cover healthcare. It was affordable.
I worked at Planned Parenthood.

They diagnose cancers while still treatable. They help women decide what birth control works for them. They help those working through mental health challenges.

Defunding them just harms people who already struggle to find places to get care.

Unlawful and unconscionable. Undocumented workers provide billions of dollars to our federal and state governments. Now spending billions of dollars to lock them. While losing billions in tourism.

This land was made for (no longer) you and me. It is Trump’s land.

Fiscal responsibility is using our taxpayers’ money for our own health and welfare. Not increase the pockets that are already deep. Are they ever full? How much is enough!!! #greed #fiscalresponsibility
Republicans are charging forward with their megabill that will blow a huge hole in the federal budget deficit & kick millions off health care - just to give the wealthy another massive tax break.

Don’t believe them when they talk about fiscal responsibility.

Senate's "big, beautiful bill" would add $3.3 trillion in new debt: CBO
The Senate's version would add far more debt than the House-passed version.

This bill is a Big Beautiful Betrayal of the middle class. It adds trillions in debt, raises interest rates, threatens rural hospitals, and puts health care out of reach for millions.

Americans know it’s a bad bill, because it is. We must stand against it.

Thank you #amyklobuchar, for standing strong to protect SNAP benefits for Minnesota families. By upholding the Byrd Rule, harmful attempts to shift food assistance costs to counties and states were blocked. This is a win for working families, kids, and counties. #SNAP #foodinsecurities #food

First post on #blueskyfirsttime #bluesky illustrates how small conservative media will attack small city/county recreation “Learn to Paddle” program, a state equity grant that was plainly used for click bait and propaganda. The pretend reporter even accused county staff of discrimination.
