tremendous news! ftc proposes treating MLMs more like other business opportunities, including requiring substantiation for earnings claims, prohibiting the non-disclosure agreements many MLMs use, & requiring a waiting period before paying or joining the MLM (!!)

+1 to this thread. Pick a school based on your goals. If you plan to practice law in Vermont, it's probably not wise to focus on schools in Utah. But if you want to keep both doors open (for a price), go with rank/recognition. It's a balance.
When I was looking, I wanted to get into the highest ranked places I could. That plan probably still works (though it's very expensive).

But a good affordable place in the state you want to live in is also very good or maybe the best plan (e.g., UT is an unbeatable choice in Texas, etc).
I’m often asked by aspiring future lawyers where they should go to law school. My answer is always some form of this. Where do you think you’ll want to live? Go to school there. Your classmates will be your future friends and peers.
