PT - learning about how each brain makes a mind - interests: Pain/Consciousness/Neuroscience/Evolution/Genetics/Biology 📚 Bibliophile - Author🖋
This is one of the best books on this subject I have ever read! How does consciousness arise from a collection of cells? The hard problem of consciousness will probably remain a question forever...

...but this book provides some interesting approaches🧐🧠

The Free Energy Principle - What is it? What it is not, how to use it and where the problems lie...all this is described in this excellent book by @kathrynnave.bsky.social ! Every biological system has one main task - to survive! But what is the best way?

This would turn much of what we thought we knew, up to now, on its head 🤯

The brain’s map of the body is surprisingly stable — even after a limb is lost
Study challenges the textbook idea that the brain region that processes body sensations reorganizes itself after limb amputation.

I think I'm a little late to the party but this book by @philipcball.bsky.social is simply put, brilliant! Evolution and biology are so much more than genes alone. It highlights the work of @drmichaellevin.bsky.social, @amartinezarias.bsky.social and many more! Well worth a read!

This thought-provoking book by @saraimari.bsky.social explores the question of what life really is and where we can draw the line! I actually thought I knew what life meant, but after reading this book I have a few things that raise a whole new set of questions…

What. A. Book.
Simply put, this book by @charan-neuro.bsky.social is brilliant! The question should not be why we forget things, but why we remember! Memories are not just a mere relic of days gone by, they also influence our present and future! This book explains this in a fantastic way

We spend a large part of our lives sleeping! Many people think that when they sleep, they miss out on something, but sleep and, above all, good sleep is the cornerstone of a healthy and happy life! This great book offers useful tips for a good night's sleep!

Re-read this book! Despite all the research, it remains to be said that exercise is NOT a magic pill! Exercise makes no evolutionary sense, we need more physical activity - absolutely yes - but telling everyone they need to exercise is nonsense! Stay active & vary your movements!

I re-read this book by @lucyfoulkes.bsky.social and can still say that it is a timeless masterpiece and remains in my top 5 of all time! A book that changed me permanently and has stayed with me ever since!

Thank you. Glad to read this. In order to solve problems, to have answers, we need questions and to raise them was, is, one of the aims of the argument here. #NotInTheGenes #CellsRUs
There is no better way to end the book year than this! I have never read a book that has raised so many questions & left me speechless at the same time! „The Master Builder“ by @amartinezarias.bsky.social is truly a masterpiece!👏🧠🔬
