I was honored to have been invited to offer an introductory speech before Senator Booker took the stage. A friend captured some of it for me.

I had the privilege to see, hear, meet, and campaign for Senator Cory Booker in 2019 in his presidential primary campaign. I support him now and encourage him to renew that effort.

I've stated that we need to focus on our congressional elections for 2026 to stop the madness. We must also look ahead to 2028 to regain, and hold, the White House .

Our focus as Democrats must be to clean the decks in 2026, and I will be very attentive to CD2 in Nevada. Flip every seat possible to stop the bleeding.

Last month, Sen. Deb Fischer's (R-NE) husband refused to shake the Vice President's hand.

Yesterday, he tried to shake Doug Emhoff's hand. The Second Gentleman replied: "Why would you try to shake my hand when you wouldn’t shake my wife’s hand?”

To give myself a bit of definition, I am not a "Yellow Dog Democrat." Since my first vote in 1972, I have never voted for a Republican, but I read and listened to them. There are values that underlie both parties and the values that speak to me find voice in the Democratic Party. It's that simple.
