I'm glad the lever is going up instead of down, but I've got my eye on this motherfucker.

Wasn't expecting to be thinking about the entropy of genetic inheritance at 1:30 am, but here we are.

...although thinking about it, having this on my mind on a late night may be statistically unexpected, but it is of extraordinarily high entropy.

Why do people use AI when there are, stock photos for situations as obscure as "man disgruntled by fork"

I'm just being amazed at how many different emotions this man can apparently have over a fork.

Love cinnamon. One of the best flavours and scents. But pure cinnamaldehyde is foul in isolation, and I hate that it apparently works well enough for most people that everything is scented with it. Can't go into a homeware store around christmas without feeling like throwing up.

Japanese is a much more formulaic spoken language, so learning completely from scratch is much easier, especially if you're of a particularly analytical disposition. But European languages are "easier" because you're not learning from scratch.
November 19, 2025 at 2:59 AM
And especially if you're used to learning those languages, the *way* you learn is by learning the difference between the two. You're not learning French, you're learning French with English subtracted from it. English and Japanese are too different for that to work.
November 19, 2025 at 2:59 AM
The reason why it's seen as a hard language isn't because it's *inherently* hard, but because going from English to a Romance or Germanic language is so small a gap, you've already done most of the work just by learning English. You can just think in English, and swap out words as you speak.

Technically I can't even afford it monthly, it's just that I have the privilege of having parents who can afford and are willing to pay for me to not be in constant agony.

I've been going to a physio for a massage monthly (I'd go more if I could afford it) because it's the only thing that seems to be able to crank down my chronic back pain from "I'm gonna throw up" to "apparently still more pain than most people feel for 95% of their lives but at least I can think."

I find that if someone (who is not familiar with autistic people) knows I'm autistic before they interact with me, they assume learning disorder, and either talk to me like I'm a child, or talk around me. But if they know me first, they can accept pretty easily that autism can look like me too.
November 9, 2025 at 2:05 AM
I don't explicitly disclose my autism at this point, because my autistic needs are either self-manageable, or are naturally accommodated by my sleep disorder accommodations.

But I don't hide the fact that I'm autistic, and I'll discuss it if it comes up in conversation, same as being left-handed.

(Thankfully the UK has somewhat decent labour laws, so reasonable accommodations are generally accepted in minimum wage jobs, so long as that lets you do the work effectively, without needing medical proof or anything.)
November 9, 2025 at 2:05 AM
I tend to find that people are more normal about it if they find out after the fact. I'll mention during interview that I have a sleep disorder (won't go out of my way to explain it because non-24 is apparently difficult to grasp for some reason), and explicitly tell them what accomodations I need.
