A picture of Tuna the psalmopoeus victori today. She turned out to be both gorgeous and female!

Video of me unboxing a little psalmopoeus victori (Darth Maul tarantula) named Tuna three years ago. (All my tarantulas are named after animal species or plant species. The first letter of their name tells me their genus.)

Pretty phormictopus cancerides tarantula allowed me to take exactly one photo before she took off.

Anybody else still jumpscare, even after years of keeping tarantulas, when they find a discarded leggie dumped in the water dish?

The AMAZING news is that this poecilotheria ornata molted 6 days after her potential/hopeful mate molted into maturity!

No pics of spider as she's resting.

I hope it just registers with him as a fever dream!

Gertude here had to go to the vet in August. She's only just now, in November, allowing me to pet her again. The lady holds a grudge.

Juvenile female phlogiellus johnreyzaloi tarantula eating a hornworm. I was really excited to get this spider last weekend!

Little brachypelma boehmei tarantula boy got a meal so he launched into 4x4 mode, where he lifts his body high up, presumably to keep the food from running off.

Find the baby tarantula, insane mode.

I got a baby aphonopelma hentzi as a freebie.

Pic 1: The ridiculously large 4x4 inch enclosure the spider came in

Pic 2: Their new home, still a bit too large. LEGO brick water dish for scale.

She loves me lol

Chatted w someone who wanted to buy my spider. Talked about housing and feeding and care. Everything sounded OK until they mentioned they wanted to get a spider to secretly hold and pull out to scare family members.

Nope. No sale, ever.

This girl is not a prop. She's a whole ass animal.

This is my genic, btw. They are bootylicious, aren't they?

I've had this orphnaecus sp. quezon blue tarantula since she was a little speck. Here's a picture of her 5 years ago and another one today. Same size deli cup for scale in both pics.

(She subscribes to the If-I-Can't-See-You-You-Can't-See-Me club.)

He looks innocent, but it is a front.

A sense of her size. She's still a young lady, not fully grown, but she's getting there! (Poeceilotheria metallica tarantula underbelly)
October 1, 2025 at 1:18 AM
Look at the badonkadonk on this poecilotheria metallica tarantula!

Caught her out sitting funny at the top of her cork bark. Of course when I started taking photos, she slowly walked away.

I haven't enhanced the colors. Blue is her signature color.

Every morning Nerf and I sit for about 30 minutes and just hold hands. Best part of the day, tbh.

A very pretty boy. Poecilotheria striata subadult male.

Tarantulas are not sentimental folk. My ornithoctonus aureotibialis needed some construction material for a tunnel she was making, so she used her old molted off face. (It is the oval structure on the top right of this photo. You can see the eye holes at the very top.)

My beautiful girl just molted again! Tliltocatl vagans female, approximately 5 years old. Here's a photo of her sitting on a spoon when she first came home and a photo of her next to the same spoon today. (I had to sneak it in SO carefully so as not to disturb her, as she only molted 2 days ago)

For no particular reason, here's a photo of a gravid loxosceles reclusa (brown recluse) that shows the trademark 6-eye pattern and fiddle shape on the carapace.

I honestly love the freebies the best! (Don't tell my pokeys.) My favorite is a gorgeous psalmopoeus cambridgei. Her name is Taz and she's the BEST! This is a photo of her from a couple years ago.

Cropped but otherwise unedited photos of a lasiocyano sazimai tarantula. First photo is in normal room light, second photo is what she looks like when you shine a flashlight on her.

Bluey!

If you keep tarantulas you know that somebody is always pawning off an extra tliltocatl albopilosus, much like zucchini in late summer. This little spider was pressed into my hand as I walked past someone I knew at a reptile show.

Anyway, I'm pleased as punch to find out that she's a girl!

I like this picture of one of my vitalius chromatus tarantulas. I took snapshots of all three sisters today. This lady is named Wolfie.
September 8, 2025 at 1:24 AM
Well here she is after her molt. The fun part of this picture is her old face shown in the original post is on the ground behind her!
