The road to authoritarianism is littered with people telling you you’re overreacting.
Breaking News: President Trump said he was taking control of the police in Washington, D.C., and deploying 800 National Guard troops there in response to “out of control” crime — even though violent crime in the city has fallen. Follow live updates. nyti.ms/3H9yVcu

work laptop updated to windows 11 without warning while I was out sick last week and it’s horrendous—it’s about the smallest problem in the world but it enraaaages me to be at the mercy of Microsoft’s random whims, change for the sake of profit and nothing else

The Tapper press tour is sending me into space—the idea that journalists should be spending any second of their time relitigating the election is insane—the dem establishment DOES have things to answer for but they go way farther back than 2024 and now’s not the time

These docs were clarifying to me as a barely engaged voter most of my life. They light a fire but negate the gaslighting at the same time—the government IS full of conspiracies but of deep pockets and invisible power, not as sensationalist as pedo sex rings, but no less vulgar and grotesque
For my weekly NPR TV column, despite the depressing state of politics, I still highly recommend Alex Gibney's HBO doc The Dark Money Game, which explores how an avalanche of money into politics led to a $61 million scandal in Ohio and threats to democracy. Plus more of The Rehearsal: loom.ly/csF3zhY
What's on TV: 2 new documentaries, a Western, a comedy, and 'The Rehearsal'
A new HBO film project traces how the Citizens United decision has reshaped democracy in recent years. Also this week, a new Netflix Western looks a lot like Yellowstone, and The Rehearsal is back.

Florida: Juan Carlos Lopez-Gomez (20) is being held in the Leon County Jail, charged with illegally entering Florida as an “unauthorized alien."

Lopez-Gomez is a U.S. Citizen, born in the USA. He showed his U.S. birth certificate in court. The judge held him in jail anyway.

This is Fascism.

Pete Hegseth and every single other official on that Signal chain should lose their jobs.

They must answer for this egregious national security breach.

Wow. Mexico's President Claudia Sheinbaum officially recognizes Palestine as a state. Here she welcomes Palestinian ambassador Nadya Rasheed.

Sheinbaum is Jewish, supports Palestinian self-determination, & unapologetically condemns Netanyahu's attacks on Gaza.

Historic & inspiring leadership. ❤️✊🏽

With all the money you’re saving boycotting big corporations, go see this movie. Tell your friends and family to see this movie. Give these filmmakers your money and attention—the film is incredible and urgent
Though the Oscar-winning documentary 'No Other Land' has been ignored by mainstream distributors in the United States, it has gained a boost in popularity from screenings at small indie cinemas across the country.
Why indie cinemas are embracing 'No Other Land' — even as U.S. distributors are staying away
Though ‘No Other Land’ has been ignored by mainstream distributors, small cinemas in the US say that screening it has been a no-brainer.

People are going to need to put big, big, BIG pressure on their reps to oppose any rescissions that the admin puts to congress—they might resort to *legal* methods—shocking—to impose their ghoulish agenda on us
