I turn Diet Coke into books. Writer, film prof, pit bull advocate, #EDS patient, shenanigans enthusiast. I’d probably be great on your podcast. She/her.

You can now buy the trade paperback of ARCHAIC, about a badass single mom who’s put in charge of a sentient island and its mythological Inhabitants. Come for the Mesopotamian goddess of the dead, stay for the 9-yr-old who saves the day w/birdwatching skills.

If you enjoy Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, do yourself a favor and pick up @mfolson.bsky.social's The Other Frankenstein, which I'd call a modern-day feminist meta sequel—told in two first-person narratives, naturally!

Plur1bus is not for me - and that’s fine! I tend to bounce off “thought experiment” shows (Severence, Upload, Black Mirror). Not my cup of tea.
But…
I *really* didn’t like the way Gilligan handles consent in Ep 2. You’re never too successful and well-liked to get some sensitivity readers, my dude.

Meant to share this photo from trick-or-treating of my pal, the King in Yellow. I hadn’t actually read Chambers, so I’m off to get @injculbard.bsky.social’s gorgeous adaptation to find out how narrowly I escaped with my life 😆

Surprised at how much I loved the new Predator movie, which basically sends a Yautja to Planet Skull Island to party with 1/2 of Elle Fanning.
It’s different from Prey, but a really well-built example of what makes these films so much fun.

Obama appeared on @podsaveamerica.crooked.com last night.
I’d already known about Tuesday’s election results. But when Obama said, “We had a good night on Tuesday,” I almost started crying.
I hadn’t realized how much it’d mean to hear Barack Obama call us a “we” again.

How to get your pokiest child moving in the morning:
1. Explain that for every 5 min they sit on the couch, you will eat one piece of their Halloween candy
2. Start timer
3. Loudly speculate about the best candy brand
4. Suggest they *really* get comfortable
5. Sing Brahms lullaby (off-key)

Important update: I literally stewed about this for five day, during which I could have had the book delivered to my local library…twice.
Then I drove to get it
I read a Kindle sample I really liked now I’ll be over here in the fetal position because the book costs $11 or it’s available for free at a library that’s 25 min away
