I dedicated years of my life to reporting on January 6 and exposing what happened. I was there that day, co-wrote a book, and published a series of major stories on my own, for Rolling Stone, and for TPM.

I hope it mattered. I hope history will remember and understand what happened.

When I was a kid, around 1,800,000 people died every year of tuberculosis. Now, around 1,250,000 do.

That's important progress. But at this current rate, it'll take a CENTURY to push TB deaths much below 500,000 per year. That's totally unacceptable for a curable, preventable disease.

Got my wife out the door for the first time in almost a month (we got COVID, then strep then we had her winter break). Feels weird to be here with just the dogs again.

I’m in Minnesota! I always forget how much larger they make parking lots for snow removal up here.

Also, tater tots on top of pizza

This is absolutely disgusting. He simply shook her hand and dared to ask her to support trans kids and she called the police on him and claimed it was assault. I hope he gets his day in the wider press and in court.

Yep. Solarpunk future. No more lawns, no more lush green golf courses. More trees, more deep carbon cycles.

Tonight I found myself in Mark Twain's Hannibal because my lovely bride wanted to go to a different Five Below to look for Christmas... things... In a scene reminiscent of National Lampoons I saw a man empty his waste water tank into the storm sewer. After a moment's thought I simply moved the car

The internet is getting its mojo back and I love it. No more arguments with sweaty asshats! Puppies and science and journalism, oh my!

I've been doing a bunch of academic and technical writing recently. I sat down today to try and write fiction and it's not working. I got the "this is hard" signal when I tried to have a dialogue conversation in my head.

I guess I'm gonna go find some Romhacks for the anbernic instead, lol.

I used the block button on here for the first time and it felt empowering to know that it’s gonna stick.

Also it was beautiful to get that free 2FA code when I set up the account. Bots brute forced my password on shitter a couple months ago and I was upset 2FA was a paid feature.

I guess I am going to give this Bluesky thing a go. Reddit is getting shaky, no amount of **SWAG** will change that. Shitter was always a cespit I mostly read on...
