Superman was ALWAYS woke, and ALWAYS fought to protect refugees and minorities. Like when he battled the KKK at a time when that group was at their peak popularity. Superman exposed their corruption and violence, and the Klan's numbers dwindled afterwards.

Superman/Clark Kent was created by the sons of Jewish immigrants as an allegory for being a refugee, taken in by the US after being driven from their home in Europe. Superman's an escapist character who can defeat any antisemite or other evildoer, wether Nazi or Stalinist, by simply punching them.
