Another Day, another Windows 11 blunder!
Game on the Xbox App runs in German, even though Windows is set to English display language, and the xbox app is set to English. What does a person have to do to make Xbox games run in a desired language? This is not working.

Reflectivity for example - our world is incredibly reflective (that is what we see at the end of the day), yet a lot of people think things need to be matte to be real. Kind of bizarre. I honestly think this might be a good video lol

Reading comments under this video and elsewhere , I wonder if DF should do a "this is how real life lighting phenomenon work" video. In spite of people visually orientating themselves daily in the real world, there is a supreme lack of intuitive knowledge about how light and materials function.
We finally have our very first, albeit somewhat strange look at one part of AMD's FSR Redstone: Ray Regeneration. In this video I talk about my first impressions, how it compares to Nvidia Ray Reconstruction, and how it might be different than expected. Enjoy!

Just watched Olivers Video on Battlefield 6 - the lighting looks really poor 😰
The City shadows are bleached out probes with SSAO 😕. It is weird to see DICE who used to embrace new technologies and push the PC platform forward having a game with similar lighting tech to Battlefield 3. 😐

Bondi told president at the meeting that Justice also decided to not release more Jeffrey Epstein documents because of the presence of child pornography and the need to protect victims.

Running these games with CPU PhysX emulation will completely trash their performance in all likelihood. Why should a user with a 4060 have a better experience in an old game than a user with a 5090? Do Nvidia have brainworms?

These are the physical copy versions of the GPU PhysX games I own - also my favourite ones. RTX 5090 is going to be playing these at single digital fps probably at points 😭

I am seeing reports of this and I have yet to test it myself - but I think it is completely unacceptable to software lock the future Nvidia cards to having worse backwards compatibility. Completely unacceptable. I see no good reason for this at all. And even if there were one, I do not care.
Apparently 32-bit PhysX games no longer works on Nvidia 50 series cards due to 32-bit CUDA being depreciated. So using PhysX in games such as Mirror's Edge, Borderlands 2, Arkham Asylum etc. will see PhysX run in software with big performance loss.

Another week, another Windows 11 complaint.
This is on a fresh Windows 11 install:
2025-01 Cumulative update will not install (error code: 0x800f0905) and in Windows Update it is recommending I "Reinstall my current version of windows to repair system files and components". This OS sucks.

OK - 480 Hz on an OLED is really slick. I definitely have to try out @blurbusters.com 's CRT shader when I have the chance. Perhaps make a video on it? There has to be a way to cover it.

Open source code is now released forthe world's most accurate looking CRT simulation.
It lets you simulate the electron beam of a 60Hz CRT tube on your 240Hz+ display, in real time, and looks better than BFI.

Who Is this for? CRT Enthusiasts, software & hardware developers, emulator authors, all of who wish to reduce display motion blur of 60 years of legacy 60fps 60Hz content with softer flicker than BFI....

CRT simulator GPU shader coming December 24, 2024 on github & shadertoy!
Genesis of CRT-simulation replacements in future, when used CRT tubes are near-extinct.
Tomorrow's 240Hz, 480Hz & 1000Hz OLEDs can optionally faithfully simulate CRT electron beam for 60fps content.

Indiana Jones and The Great Circle is shaping up to be one of my favourite games of all time and it has gotten the "Full Ray Tracing" treatment on PC - massively increasing the game's fidelity and bridging the gap to offline rendering. How does it look and run? Find out!
