Technically, the shutdown isn't over yet. The House still needs to vote to kill the ACA and Medicaid. Once THAT vote happens, the money-grubbing will begin again.

Not #3. The less polite pedants will comment that the 12th day of Christmas is January 6 and you don't want to deal with them mid-story. Trust me. I'm pedantic but I try to be kind.
I suggest #1 if you're writing 40 chapters or more.
And if any parts match vss365 prompts, that'll bring more readers.

Heh. My story was sort of similar but went in a different direction.
For the record, I've read 4 by Austen plus Wuthering Heights. Never got into Eliot. I preferred Shelley's Frankenstein and the early 20th century mystery writers: Christie, Allingham, and Sayers (alongside Hammett and Stout).

Good story.
Over 20 years ago, I wrote a series of fan fic stories for Wade Welles after Sabrina Lloyd left "Sliders" because I wanted to rewrite her ending to spite the California a-hole producer who fired her. In my series, she went off Sliding on her own.

"Think kindly of your younger self."
Difficult.
He believed unreal things and he should've known better.
Aliens. Magic. Chi. Psionics. Tarot. Runes. Church miracles. He believed it all.
All I can think is that he wanted away from reality SO MUCH that he'd believe anything.
...
I'm still running.

Which means if the Dems in the House in 2026, we'll finally find out which Congresscritters were actively involved.

I just saw the page with the very first 9 online stories on Ms. McGuire's website and I will read them forthwith to see if they are for me.
