Dig into it and see what this OS is all about.
Maybe it won't be what you want/need it to be. But maybe it can be something even more. If nothing else, it's the chance to try something new and that's always exciting. :)

I always knew Takeshis Castle was harder than rocket science. This is proof.

It's funny but while I prefer native builds, I think that's the right call for you. Linux is an ever-evolving beast where re-compiling a binary becomes necessary at any given point. So unless you make your game snaps/flatpaks, I think keeping them in the Proton/WINE container is the next best thing.

So far I do like SH2 Remake. Although as with all Remakes, I see it as an addition to the original, not a replacement. The original was flawless. Still is. Now I get to experience a different take on it. Appreciating that, even if I should end up not liking it doesn't diminish the original.

That's an incredibly good analogy. Better than my personal "it's like my 1991 VW Polo."
But joking aside, it gets easier with time. There's always jank, but once you learn the ways around the complexity the system exposes, it's a lot of fun. ... well, it was for me. Hope for you, too. :)

I was about to write something like that and then thought it might sound weird. Glad not to be alone :D

No no, that's fine. See, I thought the video was phrased badly. Now I know the guy is actually really good at explaining things UNLESS you're old and pedantic. I feel so much better now.
