And it feels like people want to say, oh, but it’s good for this, it’s good for that, it’s good for… Even setting aside the truth of that (I’m much more skeptical) what do you do about the fact that it’s attached to a giant sink of evil that is trying to rip the future from us?

They’re spending an obscene amount of money on this because they think they can purchase the future with it.
I do not think I am being a technophobe by saying that I specifically do not want THESE SPECIFIC people to own the future.

This is a goal of at least some makers of AI: when you control the thing that gives people the Facts, you control the facts, you control the history, and that helps you control the future.
