Anyone looking for an emerging poet with a first full-length poetry collection coming out to read at an AWP offsite? #awp

It feels very strange to have a poetry book coming out soon during these bizarre times. I need to remember that art still matters, that it always matters. That's why people try to censor it.

Keep making art.

Fanny Howe described the poetic realm as a place "where the sleeping witness finally feels safe enough to lie down in mystery." So beautiful and foundational for me. RIP to her.

The collective trauma we carry as Texans just keeps growing. It all feels too heavy to carry sometimes.

I know one of the people in this group--she has fought so hard against Medicaid cuts. It's truly appalling the way this group is being treated.
People in wheelchairs are getting arrested right now in the Russell Senate Office Building in DC. They showed up to tell Congress not to cut their Medicaid, because they cant afford health care without it. If you look closely you can see the zip ties on their hands. #WeWontGetOverLosingMedicaid

Haven't really been posting here because hardly anyone sees it, but I sang on a stage for the first time since 2009 last night. I was so nervous, but that just means I need to do it more. Got to find joy where we can now.

Holy crap!
This was just posted by @tbretc.bsky.social on another platform. The Chicago Sun-Times obviously gets ChatGPT to write a ‘summer reads’ feature almost entirely made up of real authors but completely fake books. What are we coming to?

This makes me so sad and frustrated.

After 12 days, I think I’m finally feeling mostly normal after latest bout of Covid. (Now that I’ve said that, watch the fatigue hit again).

For some of us, Covid is still a big deal.

Someday, when I think back to this time, however bad my memory is, I’ll remember the smirks.

The smug self-satisfied evil-spirited infuriating smirks.

Friends, I'm taking a semi-break for the next month. I'll still check in periodically via computer, but I'm on a scrolling fast. See you on the other side (I don't mean death, at least I hope not).
