Inspiration is not just about pretty pictures. It can be ugly, and sad, and beautiful, and revolutionary, and data driven.
Double feature this weekend.

Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein: was it a faithful adaptation? In spirit, yes. In detail, no. Did I love it? Yes.

Short Circuit: I haven't seen this movie in over 30 years. Every part was a delightful flashback to my childhood.

I'm very excited to visit my hometown of NYC now that all the bigots are leaving.

They're leaving, right? They promised they would.

Trump’s assault on SNAP doesn't just starve families. It exposes a cruel, long-running political project of the right. Cammy Pedroja examines how withholding food aid reinforces gender and class hierarchies that keep women from equality.

Everyone should remember. During a shutdown, it isn't that the government has no money. It just doesn't have a budget. If there is money for a ballroom there was always money for those in need. They just hate those in need.

The worst part of working here are all the partisan ranting emails we are getting. I remember how neutral and unpolitcal this place was. Now we get emails ranting about the democrats and the shutdown. I just want to do my just like I always have. Leave me alone.

This is not normal.
I'll treat every news outlet that bends the knee to this as a state propaganda mouthpiece.
WaPo: Pentagon says it will require reporters "to pledge they won’t gather any information — even unclassified — that hasn’t been expressly authorized for release and will revoke the press credentials of those who do not obey."

in light of the kimmel news, just a reminder that a few days ago a prominent fox news host literally called for killing homeless people. right afterward, someone shot up a couple homeless encampments.

that fox news host still has his job.
Brian Kilmeade endorses euthanizing homeless people: "Involuntary lethal injection, or something. Just kill them."

I just saw a comment that said "I don't support what happened to Charlie, but Charlie supported what happened to Charlie."

THAT ... that's what I've been trying to put into words.

This is way more important and deserving of visibility then that other thing that other thing that happened today.
MAGA lawmakers are now pushing a bill to criminalize homelessness in D.C., threatening those who sleep outside with imprisonment. The measure would give Trump greater power to disappear the city’s homeless population under his military occupation of Washington.

This guy could have denied unanimous consent every single time Republicans wanted to do anything or fricken cut off the lights in the Senate or pulled a fire alarm or done ANYTHING to slow down RFK, Jr.'s nomination.

But as I recall, he didn't.
Trump knew RFK Jr. would be a disastrous pick to lead health care in America, and he nominated him anyway.

Trump made this mistake, and now he must fire RFK Jr. immediately.

Finished reading Huckleberry Finn. There's a lot of discourse about it in recent years and... I so get it now. It was at once fun and deeply frustrating. I want to reach into the page rip out modern social self reflection that couldn't exist. It was uncomfortable and infuriating and... GOOD!

This should NOT be a surprise to anyone who had paid attention to how Trump behaves any time Putin is mentioned. Baby does what Daddy wants. How many Trumpers will claim this as an act of strength.
If this is what Fox is saying, you know it was a disaster.

Hey, look at that sports person doing their sports thing. They did a good job. They probably worked hard and are very proud of themselves. Good for them.
