I can understand that; I guess what it's seemed like to me is that people keep "drastic action" at the level of a nebulous call to fight, without being honest about how that's going to affect our neighbors. And without those neighbors being able to really weigh in on if they're ok to pay the price.

Also some kind of national voter ID law, some anti-trans nonsense, and probably some nasty changes to WIC/SNAP. There's a lot bad that they would plausibly have an easy road to do with a 50 vote threshold.

I can fully say it doesn't make sense to me, a USian, either.
For my bit, I never fully understood how the politics of this was going to end in Democrats getting what we want. I wasn't bought in in September, or when it was tried the first time in March.

So like what have I been missing?
The election results earlier this week made them dig in harder! The "bad stuff" that they were suffering is what they want policywise! There's no mechanism for recalling a senator so downturns in public opinion only mean something if electeds think they do this far away from an election!
