There’s not enough evidence about what makes us safer. But @megstoneimpact.bsky.social says the evidence we do have is that self-defense programs that are explicitly feminist and that focus on familiar sexual assault reduce sexual assault by 50% or more.

It is not compliance that makes us safer, but resistance, critical thinking, self-advocacy, and choice. - Meg Stone

Fascinating history. I didn't realize the role the AIDS crisis and the Reagan administration played in our current sex ed landscape. Can't wait to read this book!

Ghislaine Maxwell raped over a thousand little girls and right now she's at a Club Fed in Texas eating better food and receiving better health care than America's working poor. A clear symptom of a terminally ill society. If this doesn't piss you off, you are sub-human scum.

It takes so much more heart, energy, and creativity to fix a problem than to point it out and diminish imperfect solutions.
If you’re rolling your eyes at a problem you observe (like a perceived lack of media literacy) without even attempting to help solve it, then you’re just judging and condescending. Usually to people who haven’t had the same access to education and resources you have.
