The Blue Prince situation is a really good example of the ongoing breakdown in the games journalism editorial process, ie a properly managed Escapist would have killed the pitch immediately after the writer revealed a lack of proof in the claim

This is basically what’s slowly happening to games journalism, this kind of parasitic entity coming in and devouring websites — meanwhile the remaining sites, most of them are suffering a training crisis, a lack of editorial standards taught to those working as writers and editors. (1)
I call it digital skinsuiting. They take the skin of a defunct site and parade it around over their own, trying to mimick the old sites to trick you into believing they're who they claim to be just to steal from you.

I think ppl miss the larger picture, this is literally where the industry is headed. Complete break down in editorial because gambling companies buy outlets of yore for cheap, pump them with crap, the few remaining writers with editorial experience rudderless. I used to work with Olivia, she’s not
the escapist very publically went belly up recently and had nearly all of its staff resign and form second wind, while the lack of editorial review is a problem in the games journalism space they are a major outlier because they are as far as i know literally three dudes writing articles like this:
