BREAKING from PP

We found immigration agents have held more than 170 *citizens*

The govt doesn't track citizens held. So we did. We tallied:

Nearly 20 kids, two w/ cancer

More than 20 citizens held for day or more, incommunicado

It breaks my heart how few news articles there are on this recent EO on forced removal and institutionalization of the unhoused (and others).
Did @nytimes.com even publish one? If so, it wasn't visible on my app.
The incarceration of the mobile poor, homeless and mentally ill has long been connected to the policing of "foreigners", broadly conceived incl. Black and Indigenous people. Below are some reading suggestions for 19th century.
This is an executive order that lays the groundwork for sending homeless people and people with mental illness to concentration camps to be "civilly committed." It was never going to stop with immigrants.

This is horrifying beyond words.

An astonishing figure in this piece:

Last year, the U.S. budgeted $12.8B for new affordable housing.

This country is now poised to spend $45B on immigrant detention centers.

That's nearly *four times* as much on cages as on homes—in the middle of a devastating housing and homelessness crisis.
Are We About to Have Labor Camps in the United States of America?
If you think that’s far-fetched, then you really haven’t been paying attention to what the Trump administration and Republicans in Congress have been up to lately.
