Writer, teacher, mom. Probably playing hide and seek right now. @americorps and @Hamlinemfac alumna.
Because I’ve been busy dealing with other big surprises in life, the only thing I’ve written in two years has been a care.com blog and a couple of magazine articles. I’m out of shape when it comes to novel writing, but Novembo has been really good for this!

Pleeease hang on, little MG idea.

Yes, sadly. At least there’s coffee.

This actually sounds really cool. I usually keep notes for myself in google docs, but it does get unwieldy! I’m buying scrivner today.

To mature as a writer is to realize that when you see a sentence at the end of a chapter that reads something like: “and then [character] sat down and began his tale,” it means the author had no idea what he was about to say.

Glad your book is coming along! I’m impressed you can write after bedtime

Thanks!

Very cool! Where can I read?

The Midwest! I’m interested to hear your take on what hidden horrors you’ve found there!

And yes, I love Appalachian gothic. Appalachia has a very punk history and that’s been an amazing thing to explore. It’s with my editor now, and it’s coming out in October 2026. Right now I’m drafting a MG.

Political journalism focused on gender and women’s issues, aimed at a young female audience? That’s some of the most dangerous journalism the right can imagine.
it’s not just about silencing excellent political coverage; it’s specifically about silencing political coverage of gender & reproductive rights issues, written by & for young women. From MAGAs perspective, Teen Vogue is the worst kind of meaningful journalism possible: the kind aimed at young women

Thank you! That sounds like exactly my jam. Do you use scrivner? Is there much of a learning curve?
