I think it’s part of why “enshittification” sucks as a concept.
It only judges by the narrow lens of the people now shocked that they can’t grow stuff now
The internet was made for a diverse public set of issues that “experts” purposely undervalued based on their biases

Viewing exponential growth and profits as the only metrics for success (rather than quality, efficiency, longevity, or user exoerience) is how we got endless enshittification and subscriptions for things we used to own. Greed is squeezing the utility out of everything.
