A non hummingbird was studied to shed some light. The bartailed godwit flies for 11 days straight, without stopping or refuelling. 10,000km in one go!! How can this be possible? Pre-migration, changes in daylight cue the bird to prepare by eating a high fat diet. Hummingbirds can double their weight

Yesterday I did a bleep test & standing long jumps, after YEARS. Achieved level 11 (tbh I don't think it was a proper 20m shuttle so I'd knock that down a notch) and even with my short stature hit a 2.45m jump which seems quite good?! Nothing in the weights room gave me this sense of accomplishment!

Anyway, didn’t see much of either cardiovascular risk factor this morning when the fit French were out and about on food and of course *many* on two wheels. Sure is a nice setting for a morning jog ☺️

I did also accidentally run through the set up for the Nice 10km (I think) but no one seemed to mind. Most importantly I absolutely DESTROYED that mum with a baby stroller #nomercy #eatmydust

This is very good. Just so uncannily bizarre that ‘The War on Science’ (Krauss et al) and ‘Science Under Siege’ (Hotez, Mann) came out at almost the same time and could not be more different. This article is a nice accompaniment to @shaunvids.bsky.social’s outstanding vid

The LinkedInstagram practice of front-loading every piece of content with your credentials is exhausting. I get why people feel the need to do it in the world of scrolling short form “hey guys I’m a board certified xyz and here’s why RFK is wrong about this” but it has just normalised showing off

This is something I say a lot too. People (not the author) seem to think the only thing doctors do is diagnose. In reality, that's a tiny part of a modern doctor's job in the real world. A fancy AI offering diagnostic powers would help me only quite occasionally. Real life is not like House.
