Hope to find those I followed elsewhere, but now that I've been on here for a fair bit, am thoroughly enjoying it.
As quite a few have said, fascinating tale. I eagerly await the next installment.

You can find a lot of the episodes on YouTube, though image quality varies mightily. It can also be frustrating to try to get them to play in sequence. I remember catching them on public broadcasting back in the 80s. Rediscovering them thirty years later was fascinating. Great series.

Have fun, been to a couple shows there, but never got to the roof. Jealous ;)

So, just swung by my local Fred Meyer pharmacy and checked. They have the vaccines and as of this morning there are no limitations on who can get the Covid one. The tech said they were getting swamped, so even if you have an appointment, there's probably a bit of a wait.

The WW had a brief article a week or two ago stating that, unlike Washington, which has a law allowing it to open the vaccines to all comers, in Oregon you probably need a prescription. Hopefully that has or will change, but I just sent a message to my doctor enquiring about a prescription.

Maybe if the dog had a wading pool full of water to sit in, a quarter inch won't do it. Fortunately, when I went back a few minutes later, the car was driving off. If I had run into the owner, I'm not sure what I would have said. If the car was still there, maybe Animal Control? Don't do that.

Before the rise of plastics, the bristles in brushes, including toothbrushes were often made from such things as pig hair. I wonder if brushing with those would have a similar effect.

Ah yes, the SS, the famously apolitical branch of the actual Nazi party... WTAF...

I always thought allyship was like a nickname, something bestowed by someone else. You can't give yourself a nickname. (You can certainly change your name, but that's different. )

Indeed. "Stephen Frantz, a former head of Reed’s reactor, told me he once attended a conference of research-reactor directors where one lab boss proudly announced that the average age of his operators was just 50. Frantz made his audience’s jaws drop by saying that, at Reed, the average was 20."

What’s a nuclear reactor doing in a liberal arts curriculum, asks Robert P Crease

Fair point, I wasn't even thinking about current conditions. This was back in '98. Thinking about now... dear god, what a horrid idea.

First real job out of college was in the lab at a large creamery on the Oregon coast. I remember one of the long time employees stating that the only time he would ever drink raw milk is if he had milked the cow himself.
