Sundews are pretty easy to take care of and are very effective for fruit flies. We've kept them next to the kitchen compost bin to great effect.
A sundew carnivorous plant. Long thin leaves are covered with red hairs, each of which has a droplet of sticky fluid at the end.

Your frank descriptions of your early transition helped me wrap my head around just trusting my trans teen when they didn't have words to describe their experience. You helped me be (I hope) a better parent.
