That is so cool!
Sand batteries are literally just silos of sand that retain heat exceptionally well -- so well that they can be tied to heat exchange systems to serve as proxy *electrical* batteries. Finland's new model can store enough power (100 MWh) to heat an entire town for a week.

The world's largest sand battery just went live in Finland

@crow.house.gov really appreciated your interview on pod save America today, but that was a pathetic dodge on the AIPAC question. If the Democractic Party can’t find the moral courage to turn down campaign donations from the worst lobbyists, how can you expect to be taken seriously?

Great coverage of actual humans and businesses already feeling the pain from tariffs… thanks @cnbc.com for being real about the impacts of this terrible policy.

As a Jew, this just brings up such horrible associations for me 💔

I hope someday we can learn the lessons of history and become better people.
This is where Trump illegally sent #KilmarAbregoGarcia.

In our name.

We should all be outraged.

Another great piece from @nathantankus.bsky.social - I’m still digesting it, because this is pretty far outside my professional experience. But, we all need to get a grip on how insane the new trade policies are and what the ripple effects might be. Check his page for the whole trilogy.
It's finally out! Drink coffee, drink soda, take whatever stimulate you prefer. This is extremely long, even by my verbose standards. But its the absolute minimum word count I thought I could tell the "foreign exchange liquidity crisis" aspect of this with.

SubscribeTip! For those just tuning in: I wrote a piece a day for the first three days of this week on what we should probably now term the “Trump Tariff Financial Crisis”. I am coming to you Sunday ...

Don’t fall for this.

This is a post about Trump playing 5 dimensional chess with tariffs to lower interest rates.

Tesla's halting orders in China... turns out tariffs are bad for business.

Does anyone think Tesla will be able to make a comeback in China in 2027 if they can't sell cars there for the next two years?

Critically important study from budgetlab.bsky.social
at Yale on the current US #tariffs - even after Trump backed down.

The price level... rises by 2.9% in the short-run, the equivalent of an average per household consumer loss of $4,700 in 2024$ 😨
