Proud American who despises Trump.
Donald Trump and his handpicked FCC chair, Brendan Carr, just made satire a crime.

Mahmoud Khalil was just ordered to be deported for his free speech. Mario Guevara is in detention for filming police. Jimmy Kimmel taken off air for his speech. TikTok being bought by Trump cronies. All of it moves towards one singular narrative Trump approves. We must resist.

Jarvis: I hate to say this to my friends here at CNN, mass media is dying, so they're taking the last of these vestiges of institutions that matter and they're trying to turn them into propaganda organs under threat from the head of the FCC

I agree!
I propose that NBC let it rip. Give Kimmel, Colbert, Seth, a platform
Let MSNBC take the gloves off. Give Matthew Dowd a show. Start a series like School House rock and teach civics! I would turn that on 24/7

Ron is the head honcho of Meidas Touch.
It's not weird, it was totally expected. 🤬
Weird that the FCC Chair had no issue with Kilmeade wanting to euthanize homeless people.

America is bleeding out from within. In just the past few years, the U.S. has been rocked by political violence. While the powerful get richer, ordinary Americans are left living in a democracy under threat—where both sides have stopped listening—and it has to stop.

Kirk’s murder “represents a grave leadership test for Mr. Patel. His swift pronouncements about the inquiry have revived concerns about his lack of experience, obsession with social media and purge of some of the bureau’s most experienced investigators.”

“awful people don’t deserve to be killed, but they don’t deserve to be praised, either” is apparently a thought too complex for the pundit mind

Isn't announcing "We have shoe imprints" telling the suspect to burn the shoes he was wearing? Seems really amateurish.

No, there is nothing wrong with what Matthew Dowd said here.
MSNBC has now apologized for the following on-air comments by Matthew Dowd about Charlie Kirk. There's nothing wrong with what he said.

MSNBC has fired Matthew Dowd.

What he said is on the left.
His apology is on the right.

Big sigh. Watch this.

Can you see why the Yankees’ moment of silence, the lowered flags, the promise of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, feel like a gut punch to the very people he spent years targeting?

No one wished death on this man, but what we’re seeing right now is too f*cking much.

We CANNOT normalize this!
We are not living in a democracy any longer when our criminal justice system is used to selectively punish the President's political opponents and give his loyalists and friends immunity. We are becoming a banana republic in front our eyes and we cannot normalize it.

This is about social media restrictions imposed by the government and a bigger issue of trying to control society’s rage. It manifests differently here but it’s part of a much larger crisis of the common www.nytimes.com/live/2025/09...
