The ongoing federal government shutdown continues to harm the people of Spokane. The deal currently on the table does not solve the problem, it only extends it, and Spokanites deserve better than short-term fixes.

@spokanecity.org's iconic parking structure, the Parkade, has been listed on the Washington Heritage Register meaning it is now under consideration for the National Register of Historic Places!

Today, we celebrated On Track Academy's Schoolyard Forest, a place-based learning center. The forest was designed & built by students, with help from volunteers & community partners. If both the Spokane Schools bond & Spokane Parks levy pass, we will create at least 6 more outdoor learning centers!

@spokanecity.org is committed to connecting people to the resources they need, while also creating an enforcement mechanism for those who continually choose to violate the law. I am also proposing we give officers more discretion to cite those who repeatedly create public disorder.

Today, @spokanecity.org announced the next phase of engagement and enforcement under the H.O.M.E. Starts Here initiative. We are dedicated to connecting individuals with the resources they need while also establishing an enforcement mechanism for those who repeatedly choose to violate the law.

It's a great day for a groundbreaking! I look forward to Excelsior Wellness opening its first-of-a-kind intergenerational housing development. This development will provide much-needed housing for local seniors and transitional-aged youth.

I met with the leadership team at Maddie’s Place to discuss further collaboration & tour the clinic. They provide medical care for substance-exposed infants, along with wraparound support for their caregivers. This year, @spokanecity.org allocated $300K in opioid settlement funds to Maddie's Place.

The Pavement to People Program encourages the construction of affordable housing on underdeveloped parking lots. The first project utilizing this program is in the pre-development and design stage! This is a step in the right direction, as downtown Spokane needs an additional 3,200 housing units.
