New OA Article: "Transport of phenoxyacetic acid herbicides by PIN auxin transporters" rdcu.be/eiJXf

PINs are key players in distributing phenoxyacetic acid herbicides. Mutagenesis and cryo-EM structures elucidate substrate specificity and transport mechanisms. #PlantScience

Tang, Chen, and Friml show that moss' special superpower of de-differentiation and regeneration depends on auxin transport. I missed this preprint from a week ago (in Cell Biology subject instead of Plant Biology).

Auxin fluctuation and PIN polarization in moss leaf cell reprogramming
Auxin and its PIN-FORMED (PIN) exporters are essential for tissue repair and regeneration in flowering plants. To gain insight into the evolution of this mechanism, we investigated their roles in leav...

We've now moved into the era where we can discover how plants establish and eliminate hormone patterns, to determine their function. Amazing work by Jayne, Annalisa, Bijun, Wolf and Xander! Plus there is a more reversible, smaller phenotype Gibberlellin biosensor (GPS2).
