This is a good thread about the literal cost of good journalism. The Dublin Inquirer is a really good publication and the city is lucky to have it.
Okay, the end of the year is in sight, so maybe it’s a good time for us to tell you about our financials, here at Dublin Inquirer HQ at the Digital Hub on Thomas Street in Dublin 8. We ask for transparency from others, so some transparency from us is good too, right? 1/

🧵 How far-right/National Alliance candidates are doing based on mid-morning tallies #GE24.

These will likely have changed by the time most people read them, but give an indication of the state of play this morn.

Have also omitted some candidates in constituencies where no data was available yet.

This is actually worth reflecting on (they will not reflect on it).

If you have people *who vote for you* unhappy with the experience of your election, that’s a Signal that something went awry in that relationship.

Insisting the voters were wrong has been the Labour Party’s prison for years.
This is fascinating. The Greens' Ossian Smyth posted a June 2020 wishlist for government, and they've achieved much of it. Yet, the Greens could lose all their seats. It's a bit depressing.

I'm having a no-gifts Xmas.
"Perhaps it’s my fatigue with the endless consumerism of Christmas, or it’s a result of having to pack up my life and give away 90% of my belongings that’s made me reassess what’s important, but I feel I’m entering a post-gifts time in my life."

While I'm glad the Simon Harris viral video is shifting the needle on FG support, how I dream of a situation where their appalling record in government did likewise. We really shouldn't need it to get to on-camera pantomime villain levels to acknowledge the inhumanity lying plain in their policies.
